On Thursday we made a family decision to have a light driving day to regroup and refresh. We drove through Oklahoma and made reservations at a campground right on the border of Oklahoma and Arkansas and pulled in for lunch.
The rest of Thursday was spent fishing (we caught several bluegill and sunfish...even Cooper caught one!), playing in the pool and just 'hanging out'. The one 'challenge' here is that it was 100 degrees and so humid that it almost made you sick to be outside. In fact, we tried to make dinner outside and in the middle of cooking we said "Screw it!" and drove to a McDonalds just to sit in the air conditioning for a little while.
It's clear that the end of the trip is getting closer and now that most of the major 'destinations' are behind us, we can sense the kids starting to get a little 'anxious'. This was a really nice stop and although I don't have much to report, we thoroughly enjoyed a family day not on the road. We'll have some ground to make up before the weekend but this family can chew up miles like rock stars!
