Writing on Monday night from Billings, MT and although it is pouring rain, Brock is off playing mini-golf by himself and Riley said she "needed some girl time" (whatever that means). We drove to Mt. Rushmore this morning and it was everything we had hoped it to be. The sky was completely blue, the weather was perfect and we loved every minute of it. We took lots of pictures, watched videos and bought junk...what a great morning! We got on the road about 12:15 and headed out West. We drove from South Dakota into Wyoming and then up to Montana four about a four-hour drive in which we saw maybe ten other cars. I have never in my life seen a sky so big and a place so massively untouched. Montana is a special place and I have wanted to come here my entire life (in fact at one point in college I told Michelle that we were moving there and she said, "Okay, but if you can't get a job my dad will kill you." I didn't want to mess with Patrick and after being here I think it was a good decision since I can't figure out what anyone does here for a job. Each house seems a thousand miles from their neighbor (Brock commented that "trick-or-treating here would really suck"...he's right).
After five hours we pulled into Billings, MT and are staying at the first ever KOA in a beautiful bluff alongside the 'city'. Tomorrow morning we will head down the Beartooth Highway which is something I have wanted to do as long as I can remember (last week it was still covered in snow!). The drive will take about four hours and then we'll be based at the Montana Yellowstone KOA for a couple of days using the Jeep to visit all of the amazing things in this area. We could have spent another week in South Dakota and loved every second of it, but we're excited for the next adventure!
