Day 2

On Saturday we awoke to another very sunny, and very hot day ahead of us.  After a delicious pancake breakfast, playing at the pool, shooting a round of mini golf and playing games at the camper, we decided to head out to the town of harpers ferry which is only about ten minutes away.  As you head into the valley of Harpers Ferry, there is a very old hotel perched way up high on the cliff overlooking the river and the entire valley.  The hotel is completely run-down and parts of it are falling off the cliff but you can tell that back in the day it must have been spectacular (and haunted!).  we explored the grounds for a while and then drove down to town for lunch and ice cream.  

It was fun to be in such a historic place for the 4th of July as there were Civil war re-enactments, displays and characters all over town.  Famous people including George Washington,

THomas JEfferson, Abe Lincoln, John Brown, Frederick Douglas, and John Wilkes Booth have shared the history of this great place. the kids learned how to be Virginia militia, saw what life was like hundreds of years ago and even played homemade games like the kids did during the 1700's.  Again the 96 degree weather sapped our energy and by the time we got back to the

campground everyone was pretty whipped...oh wait, that was just the adults, the kids magically had as much energy as they did at the beginning of the day...Greeaattttttttt!   We ended up BBQ'ing, drinking wine and hanging out with friends before making s'mores and calling it a day.  By 10 everyone was in bed and Michelle and I could barely keep our eyes open.  Tomorrow is our last day at this campground and while we're excited about what will come next...we still don't have a clue where we're going.  oh well, that's something that I know will work itself out.
