Day 1

Friday, July 1---- Thank goodness for my wonderful wife who spent the last 24 hours shopping, packing and preparing for our great adventure.  Michelle has always been the central person of our family trips and she has an amazing talent for making sure that her excitement is contagious.  i took riley to work with me for a half-day and as soon as we arrived home the family (including my sister Cat) hopped in the rv and took off on the road.   the harpers ferry area is one of the most significant and interesting places from the Civil War and the town of harpers ferry is brilliant.  after a HOT day (95 degrees) spent exploring, playing and getting our bearings, we BBQ,d with friends and laughed until it was time to head in for the night.  at about that time, Michelle and her friends signed up for a tour of a very famous haunted house (John Wilkes Booth spent considerable time here) located near the campground.  after a presentation, everyone was given EVP detectors and sent off to various parts of the haunted house to search for ghosts.  My VERY superstitious wife headed right for the attic where she knew they would be the most scared.  the ladies had a blast and and returned with scary adventures which they,ve been laughing about since.  This was a fantastic day and we are so excited to be starting what will surely be another great adventure.
