La Grange & Gettysburg this weekend!!

On Saturday we met Kate, Nate and Aaron at the La Grange winery in Haymarket for a few glasses of wine, some snacks and a few intense games of Battleship. Great way to spend a cold winter evening.

We took the kids to Gettysburg on Sunday just to get out and do something fun as a family. When Michelle was growing up, her parents always made Sunday a 'family day' since her dad worked on Saturdays. We've adopted that tradition (though sometimes Saturday is our family day...and sometims BOTH!) and always try to do one thing all together as a family. All during the week we talk about what we should do on the weekend that would be fun. We scan the newspaper, get on-line to look up fun things to do with kids and ask everyone we know for ideas.

The trip to Gettysburg was a blast. It is only 80 miles from our house and we drove through the battlegrounds looking at all of the amazing monuments and statues. It was C-O-L-D outside so we didn't spend very much time walking around. Then we stopped at a little restaurant in downtown Gettysburg for soup and nachos before heading home. Then we headed over to Patrick and Kaija's house for a birthday dinner for Tina.
